Trying to explain the most basic horsemanship to people... Or my other pet peeve: restarting a ruined horse does not look like starting a greenie. And sometimes fixing the ruined horses is going to be ugly no matter how fair you are

I can’t speak for what’s been on your FYP, but when a friend had his carriage company, or if I was going to go roading with the hounds from a local kennel, the farrier puts borium on their shoes for added traction.

This too true. If me and my horse have to be on concrete I get off and lead him or just have him walk I’m not risking him slipping even if it takes me 20 minutes with me leading him

or horses being shod on concrete and slipping almost killing themselves or the farrier. this isn't setting them up for success. this is how we end up with so many "problem" horses.

We used to ride long distances on rocky terrain and on partial paved roads and had to have shoes with borium - could any of them be doing that? Also, my kid had his horse slip on pavement with no shoes at all at a walk and the horse fell on his leg and broke it (human leg broke) in 8 places. That was fun. I got to see it and pull him out of the road.

I see Amish racing their horses on pavement down one of the most hilly roads we have around. It’s awful.
