@nautiluslive: While exploring Vogt Seamount, our #CorpsofExploration encountered multiple deep-sea #sponges and their associated species. Dead sponge stalks provide habitat for associates, such as worms and #Venusflytrapanemones (Actinoscyphia aurelia), which use their height to catch prey floating by in the water column. Previous dives here have documented high abundance and diversity of #deepsea corals and sponges, and this follow-up did not disappoint.
