@nbcnews: #Paris' #Louvre was brought to a halt by its own striking staff, with gallery attendants, ticket agents and others refusing to take up their posts to protest unmanageable crowds, chronic understaffing, water leaks and more.

The Louvre could just limit tickets more…

That’s not anti-tourist. That’s anti-Louvre management.

Been there twice! Each time there was a problem or missing art! And yet they had no issue asking full price for the tickets! The same with the Versailles! Apparently the Versailles has some rules which not everyone is aware off! As in bad weather there are restrictions where you can enter due to the fact that people could enter and destroy, or that some areas are always in maintaining! And again they have no problem asking full price tickets! I find it funny that the staff doing strikes but no problems is screwing tourists!

Sounds like the Louvre needs to pay their workers more! Solidarity with all working people ✊🏻

The Louvre should be able to afford to pay more workers if it’s that popular

they should just house the Mona Lisa somewhere else just to reduce tourism for the actual museum

Good for them! The over tourism in Paris is getting out of hand. The Louvre caps the entrance number at 30,000 per day, with more and more days at max capacity

Its not, the Louvre has been under funded and its artifacts are at risk of being damaged if left there due to the building not being up to code with preservation and restoration code

It’s crazy how a museum like the Louvre can face such challenges. Hope they get the issues sorted out soon for both staff and visitors.

So sick of news channels straight up lying. They’re protesting working conditions and how the museum has as few workers as possible and overworks them

its not anti tourism it's anti staff shortaging! companies push to have as few people as possible until it becomes dangerous and then blame the workers for mistakes

They need to be paid more. Or the museum needs to limit the amount of tickets being sold. I feel bad for these poor workers tbh

Is it possible to implement a max capacity system? Scan ticket for entry and exit and only then can the next group enter? Pre reserve time slots to ensure manageable crowds. I’m all for tourism but when there’s too many people I feel too stressed and can’t appreciate things as much

staff shortage is a poor management problem. Fire the managers and get someone who will treat staff proper

Why don’t they control it with only purchasing online, select a time, & manage # if tickets sold for each slot? No walk-ins. No ticket, no entry.

As someone that went last spring they are EXTREMELY understaffed. The line wrapped around the building to get in - there wasn’t enough of those poor workers
