Just asking, but why can't the UTI not be treated at home?here in NL we treat it at home with heavy antibiotics.would be so much easier for people with dementie to stay in the safety of their home.

U prob should see a urologist , if he keeps having UTIs , urologist can advise u on what u can do. UTIs can be serious for the elderly . With dementia, they do get more confusion. My dad had dementia.

If he has a catheter he will continue to get UTIs.

Why does he have a continuous catheter in place? Just a breeding ground for harmful bacteria. If he’s incontinent so be it. That’s what Depends are for. As the Jamaicans say “Once a baby, Once a man, Twice a baby!” Hire help if Danielle can’t see herself changing him. He deserves respect.

Both of my friends they have dementia and they have had UTIs. I think it’s because they don’t go to the bathroom. Their brain is telling them not to go to the bathroom. That’s what the doctor said and they ended up having a UTI every time they stayed in the hospital for about a week. It was really bad

Best thing to do. The availability to get different testing done at hospital is better than doing anything at home. Only problem is most specialty procedures are better to get done during weekday
