I know that the people who need to see this probably will not. But just in case… Here are some frequently asked questions…answered. Foxes Journey Sanctuary is a nonprofit, where I work. I am not in charge. What I do is show up every day to care for these animals. I show up on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, weekends, other holidays, etc. I’m about to be covering my boss’s maternity leave with just one other person. Last time she had a baby I worked for six weeks straight. This is my life. But it is also just my job. Sometimes I take vacations. I have days off. I leave them in the care of the person who took on the responsibility in the first place. I chose to make a TikTok to share the joy of these wonderful animals with people. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. However, there seems to be some confusion, and some less than positive things. I am so happy to answer questions. I’m a lot less happy to wake up to several accusations of people that couldn’t be bothered to go to my bio and read what is going on. The fact of the matter is that most of these animals would be dead if the sanctuary did not exist. None of this is an ideal situation. However, we are doing the best that we can. Please also know that while you are watching TikTok videos, you are seeing a small slice of a much bigger picture. For everyone. You don’t see us putting up enclosures and expanding them. You don’t see the struggles with money, and the weeks I don’t get paid. You don’t see the tours and programs we do. You don’t see me sweating in 95° weather, still having to do all of the chores with an autoimmune disease. You don’t see me bundling up to go out in -20° to feed the foxes and clean up after them in icy conditions. You don’t see me chopping up 40 pounds of chicken every day. You don’t see me washing 65 bowls every day by hand or the 20 buckets i have to scrub out. You don’t see me wiping off Luna’s eye boogers (most of the time). You don’t see the vet visits, the losses we experience, the foxes who need extra attention, the joy of foxes who make recoveries after long, hard illnesses. The point is, give people some grace and the courtesy of learning more about videos that you see before you tell them to go off themselves, okay? Just…try. Be a human. Have empathy. Do your research. OK, I love you, bye.
