Sorry but he’s not making sense. He knows that hospital is not equipped to handle pediatric cases and they offered to transfer her to a pediatric hospital but he said no. Why? I’m all for being an advocate but what exactly is he advocating at this point?

As a former law enforcement officer, those officers had ZERO IPS SKILLS! To deescalate the situation they should’ve removed the doctor then ask the gentleman to move on the inside with his daughter where he feel comfortable and brought in a female nurse/doctor to smooth out the situation. The dad just want to be heard without ridicule. Make him feel like he’s heard and have options…be empathetic while controlling the situation for all parties.

Dad is on business, the Brake & Muffler analogy was the most well done“here is what’s happening” explanation I’ve ever heard. He is frustrated but held appropriate composure the whole time. Even stepped back to give them more room because he can see they indirectly tryna paint the scene a different way. Let me man move his family elsewhere. AMA paperwork please, new hospital, appropriate resources.

You are an AMAZING and LOVING DAD👏🏽. I don’t understand why they concentrate on kids that have good parents and other than the child’s current medical emergency, they target the wrong ones. But let a child come in with obvious abuse and they just let them go. Honey you did exactly what a real parent should do and I’m proud of you

Report that “doctor” license to the board. Also, get a lawyer because it’s definitely EMTALA law & you/child being unlawfully detained to leave the hospital + preventing you from getting your child a transfer to another hospital to provide proper treatment.

Great job Dad!!! ALWAYS advocate for yourself and your children, always! And the way you maintained your composure was on point! No way would I have been that calm. My grandson has had 2 seizures, he just turned 3 yrs old. It’s terrifying & yea if they don’t have the proper care for her time to go someplace that can! Hope she is doing better now & they figure out what is causing them. 🙏🏽

As a Security Officer that works in a hospital we’re not obligated to hold you/family there he doesn’t have the “power” hold you..that’s why it’s called “Leaving AMA” which is “Against Medical Advice” which happens all the time.

I’m literally about to be a mom in less than 4 weeks away and now I’m scared. I understand wholeheartedly how scary parenting can be—and as a black first time mom seeing this is scaring me a little. I know how to play face when it comes to authority and bravo to the father for advocating for his daughter ♥️♥️I’m just really terrified something will happen because I live in CO. And I’m having OBs and doctors tell me things and doing things I’ve even stood on to advocate for my sweet pea and watching this is really helping but scary—healthcare when it comes to people of color really don’t understand what we go through

We had the same issue when my daughter got burnt. We wanted to take her to the nearest children’s hospital 2 hours away once she was stabilized because none of the hospitals treat children. We were told they would call cps on us if we left their hospital! Finally 9

This is abuse of power, racial profiling at its best. Drs do not have the right to detain a child unless there are signs of abuse or neglect. A parent has a right to advocate for their child without being profiled
