One of my friends in med school was the #1 student in our class. Incredibly gifted (now does plastic / reconstructive surgery in the NYC area). He’s the nicest, most down-to-earth guy, but he caused a lot of the *really* smart people in our class to lose their minds, because they could never quite catch him. Usually had the highest score on every test. Scored 99.9% on Step 1. As I met arrogant residents and attendings later in life, it was a good lesson. If the smartest guy I’ve ever met was down to earth, these guys had no justification for their arrogance.

MJC :

Only geniuses in this world are those with insane photographic memory or can think in a freakish abstract way that leads to innovation. Outside of that, the main thing separating med students is their drive and work ethic. You will be really successful just from putting work in understanding, memorizing and applying the material you learn.

Im not a med student but i feel the same at Erasmus university because their grading system is so harsh that i became average 😭 also feels the same when you’re an artist and suddenly a lot of artists are surrounding you
