@brutamerica: A Massachusetts brewery has gone viral for enforcing strict rules about kids on its property. The owners posted a sign asking parents to keep children close and well-behaved. The post goes along with a broader debate online about whether kids belong in breweries. Legally, businesses can set conduct policies as long as they don’t discriminate. #BreweryPolicy #ParentingDebate #KidsInBreweries #SmallBusinessRights
I don’t understand why parents are taking their children to breweries in the first place

If the brewery has a full food menu I’m fine with kids as long as they behave. If it’s just beer there is no reason for a kid to be there.

I support this 100%. I’ve taken mine to breweries and taprooms however they stayed outside playing cornhole and what ever else they could; they danced to the music by a local artist and ordered almost everything off the limited menu. They had a blast while being respectful.

the number of kids birthday parties I come across at breweries is STAGGERING. BYO food is usually allowed so parents bring a stack of pizzas and let kids run about while they enjoy beers. it's BIZARRE

Our local brewery started becoming less family friendly 9 months ago. There’s currently a “for lease” sign in the window now

I see no problem. The worst part about having kids at a brewery is not being able to find a table bc it just all kids getting out of their soccer games taking up space, they’re not even getting food or sodas. This isn’t a picnic area.

The problem is a lot of breweries have become restaurants that have kids menus and toys. I take my kids to those types but we also have ones around here that’s booze and snacks. I don’t take my kids to those. There is multiple types of breweries and not

ive been to taprooms and breweries where kids are literally running and screaming at the top of their lungs while their parents are just sitting and enjoying themselves and its incredibly annoying. leave your kids with someone if youre going out to drink.

Breweries allowing kids has always been odd to me. Even well behaved kids. Most of these places don’t even serve food so parents are drinking with no food for extended periods of time then packing up their kids and driving home…

I understand this. I think people needs to respect that there's a place to bring your kids with and there's a place where adults just want to enjoy their space. This should not be frowned upon. Brewearies and taprooms are not playgrounds for kids.

This reminds me of the time I worked at a vineyard and we did wine tastings, we did not allow anyone under the age of 21. A couple came in with their children, and we told them that they were not allowed to have the children in the wine tasting room, so they opened up the trunk of their car, sat their children in the trunk of the car and continue to drink wine in the tasting room. I had to ask them to leave.

Our local brewery has a kid size Mrs Pac-Man machine that is free, kids board games and puzzles. It’s owned by a family with young kids and they openly state it is a child friendly space. They have nightly food trucks and we live in a small town with limited food options so we go with all 3 of our kids frequently. They are rarely the only kids there.

I do t get why you would allow your kids near a place that sells alcohol but then loose your shit around edibles. Kids watching their parents drink is so good for their growth. I stand for no kids at breweries. Not sorry.

More restaurants need to be child-free, or have family hours.

I work at a brewery and there was one time I walked to the back to get something from the production cooler and there were kids running around in there. completely different area from the outside sitting area and their parents just let them loose. I don't mind kids being at the brewery but parents shouldn't just let their kids run wild

only the ones who let their kids do what the sign is telling them not to do are the ones who would really be offended by this if you parent your kids this sign isn't an issue
