I would argue religiously that this is easily disbutable and legally the bouncer would be at fault, (with how most bars operate). The bouncer checks the IDs and marks (wristband or stamp, whatever) if they're good. Any jury or judge would have the common sense to agree that the bartender('s) cannot be expected to check every ID for every purchase as well. If the bouncer fails to check an ID properly the responsibility would be placed on them. This is a standard procedure most bars follow and IF it's wrong to do this then it would be the bar that would assume negligence for enforcing a bad practice.

In Utah we can’t go to bar areas under 21, you have to be 21 to get non alcoholic beer, they measure to the very oz how much alc goes in and out the state. All this while you can own a vape at 18 but not buy them

I work at a casino where no one under 21 can even enter the building but we (floor servers) still have to Id anyone who looks under 35

so out of curiosity because I know this happens locally. let's say you go out to a bar/club there are people there under 21. you decide that they are pretty cool you buy them a drink. they tell you they are 18 after receiving drinks. bar/club rules make it so you must be 21+. what is the legal issue for the person in this situation could they get time for getting drinks under the assumption another was 21 or older given the area?

Do you know that on the day of may 2 2025 I was on pbs news hour with a courthouse I’m from New York I’m writing to everyone who is talking about may 2 2025 what the government had done to me for 5 months from today !! They emotionally damaged me causing me PTSD caused by the United States government ! I used to do improv games that were hosted at a bar, and one time I was feeling so parched after the meetup that I went to the bar to order a lemonade. I was like. 18/19 at the time, and was so out of depth at any kind of bar scene that the bartender took pity on me and let me have my lemonade for free.

Ultimately this is how the law works, which is why most bars will not allow anyone under 21 in or won’t let them in after a certain point. The reason bouncers check ID at the door at bars is because the bartenders already have too much going on to have to worry about checking every ID at the bar.

in oregon most places that are specifically designed to serve alcohol they will have a sign saying minors allowed or not allowed and depending on the sing a minor legally can’t/can enter

Yes, criminally, the bouncer is not liable. But they could be liable in civil court depending on the contract.

the rules of a bar suggests that everybody that is in the bar is over 21. I bring that up because I know somebody that was arrested for having "relations" with a "young lady" after he had picked her up at the bar. she was ordering drinks, they both were drunk, and he got arrested because the assumption is "everyone at the bar is over 21." the only person to get convicted of any kind of crime was him, the bouncer, not the bartender, and not the girl for presenting illegal ID to the bouncer. the bartender, apparently, never asked for ID

Some of y’all in the comments are confused. Private companies have the right to say they only want 21+ inside their establishment. He is simply explaining that it is not illegal for them to let someone under 21 in if they wish.
