Fern wasn't stronger than Frieren at the Mage exam. There's a reason why Frieren's clone was the guardian of the gate. Methode handled Fern's clone, so Methode might be stronger than Fern at that moment.

That said, such a deadly battle is something we will likely never see, simply because they are not enemies—and never will be. Frieren sees Fern almost like a daughter, and the bond between them makes a fight to the death unthinkable. But hypothetically, if such a clash were to occur, Frieren would still defeat Fern with relative ease. She knows Fern’s thought patterns, her spells, and how she fights—after all, she was the one who trained her. Frieren is someone who regrets not understanding Himmel better, and because of that, she makes an effort to truly understand Fern. Even in a scenario where they were total strangers, Fern would still be at a major disadvantage—after all, she would be facing a mage who has lived and fought for thousands of years. Without reaching the level of a true master, Fern would lose without causing Frieren much trouble. And even if she did reach that master level, defeating Frieren would still be nearly impossible. Yes, Fern might be able to injure her or push her into a corner through clever tactics or, but she would not be able to kill her or force her---

I disagree agree with you did you not see the last part when fern attacked the frieren clone and blow her arms off she did something that pushed fern to a wall if fern was alone she would not made it that’s for sure it’s frieren’s clone that was the strongest in the dungeon

Please so you didn’t watch the series at all? Her clone absolutely slammed Fern against a wall, Fern couldn’t even register the spell as magic and had. I clue what was going on. If Frieren wasn’t there she would have died.

If we are talking raw power Frieren wins. That being said I see what the guys talking about Ferns maybe being the most dangerous, Frierens clone is standing in a room waiting for people to come inside. Ferns is actively looking for someone isolated. Ferns clone isn’t the strongest but could be the most deadly is a better way of putting it.

ya'll arguing about power scaling missed the entire point of the arc, magic is a battle of rock paper scissors, Frieren is strong but she admitted herself that many human mages alr defeated her, however Fern can't defeat Frieren alone

Nope, Freiren still is stronger. Freiren's clone has to be 2v1 along with Freiren. While a weakened/staffless clone was able to take down Fern using a gravity/repel-like-skill. Methode was able to match her since she's still standing, just catching her breathe.

no I think you missed a crucial point in that final scene. think bout how methode was standing. then look at the location where ferns clone was disappearing at. methods was a dead man standing. fern was bout to up the pole point blank on her.

Fern is *not* stronger than Frieren Lol. Like sure, she's better at mana perception/hiding, and she is faster than Frieren in casting Zoltrak, but she's not stronger. It's like firing a machine gun at someone with an infinite-battery energy shield. At a certain point you're gonna run out of bullets. Oh, and the person with the shield can also create black holes 😩😩

Frieren knew, her only weakness was her love for fern. And those duplicates mimic the person they’re mimicking by 99.9% Frieren knew shed have to keep herself busy so fern could deal the final bliw. She knew her clone would never hit fern unless fern hit a blow first
