I treated my character like she never wanted kids to begin with and my husband was a beard. When I left that vault and arrived in the Wasteland, I was like, "Finally! I can do what I want. Let's kill some bandits and take their 200 year old devilled eggs!! I am taking ALL the drugs!"

ALSO I'm queer and i like making queer characters! I usually make confirmed bachelor characters new Vegas! I don't like that they force you into a seemingly happy straight marriage. not everyone's bi/pan, if your character is gay/lesbian are they supposed to be deep in the closet and in a comphet marriage?? like it just makes it kinda sad.

I really wish Fo4 gave you a much more blank slate character, I really hated the pre war backstory. Also the voices suck. I miss unvoiced blank slates that I can use to actually make my own character with their own backstory and stuff.

look for Start Me Up Redux. let's you pick a different life after character creation. makes the kidnapping a quest where you find both Nate and Nora in the vault and info about the child. no more forced parent. roleplay however you like!

The worse thing they did with Fallout 4 was voicing main characters. They restricted player freedom by doing this.

it would have been so more interesting if your character was an older sibling looking for their kid brother instead. like maybe the MC could have just been visiting their family at the time the bombs dropped and you're going to play Nate or Nora but the only who survives is the vault is the older sibling.

I had just had my first baby when playing and loved the story until you find out he’s an adult, I wanted to save my baby and have it raised by my reporter wife in Sanctuary 😭😭

i hated that they forced the backstory on you to be so *personal* i didn't like it in Fallout 3 either with New Vegas the courier has no backstory beyond their profession unless you also get the DLC but even then all of their personal characteristics are left up to you

I hate people who hate the fact your character has a back story (aside from having a son, that I get) but your character being married, or like Nate being military. Literally just ignore it? Like pretend they backstory doesn’t exist and make your own it’s that easy

I literally had zero problem with it. Maybe it’s just cause I’ve been in theater but I take on my given roles in games with pride, even if I did make my character custom.

Your robo-shaun is very lucky. I mean, most people just abandon him entirely, and he has the best familial situation the wasteland can provide. An awesome synth in power-armor for a dad and a badass mom who visits sometimes like “hey kid, check out this gun I found, it turns people into goo”
