Being able to pivot from international student to working a job I’m passionate about… it’s been a journey with a lot of lessons along the way ❤️‍🩹. Here are 4 key things I really wish I had known earlier when I was a student 👇 1️⃣Know WHEN to Apply: Most Australian grad roles open in 2 waves: Jan-Mar and June-Sep. Some companies like NAB, CBA only hire once a year. So don’t make the mistake of finding out too late - mark deadlines early and prep your CV in advance! 2️⃣Stay organised with a Job Tracker: Create a simple Excel or Notion sheet with columns like: Job Title, Company, Status, Link, and Deadline. This keeps you on track, helps avoid missed opportunities, and gives you a big-picture view of your applications - especially when you are applying to 20+ roles. 3️⃣Prep your Application Essentials: 📩Use a professional/work email (your uni email can go to spam!) 📄Keep your transcript ready. Most apps ask for your WAM and GPA. 👩‍💻Build a portfolio that shows your work (e.g.: use GitHub, Tableau, Behance or personal site). Showcasing projects give recruiters real proof of your skills! 4️⃣Build a strong LinkedIn Profile: LinkedIn isn’t just for networking, it helps you stand out and many grads jobs are listed there with Easy Apply. Make sure to update your profile, post about your journey, and take short online courses. Share your tips or drop any questions below! Follow @chloebhere for more insights on the hiring process💼 #lifeinaustralia #abroadlife #internationalstudents #abroadstudy #womenintech #internationalstudentsaustralia #graduatestudent #graduatejobs #jobtips #careeradviceforstudents #careeradvancement #careeradvice #graduateprogram #jobsinaustralia #unimelb #monash #unsw #deakinuniversity #latrobeuniversity #internshipprogram #internship #internshipabroad
