I am sorry but how can you put the two words « logic » and « religion » in the same sentence ?

Critiquing how Islam is practiced is still valid because your religion doesn’t live in a vacuum. It shapes laws, systems, and real people’s lives. If the source can be used to justify oppression, then yes we’re allowed to critique how it plays out.
Also if you say I can’t call it immoral because there’s no objective morality, then your whole argument falls too. Because that means no one’s ‘right.’ So why should I follow your standard of critique?
And finally Islam shaped many countries’ cultures. If it helped build the system, then it can be criticized when the system causes harm. That’s not Orientalism. That’s accountability.

yes lol :
from an atheist view you cant seperate religion and culture as societies create religion, so what matters is how islam is practised in reality

Exactly, most people who critique Islam are unaware of how the religion works. Like you said critiquing the sociopolitical systems, if they are critiquing countries this way then their logic makes no sense as then we would ask them why is America doing so badly while they are a “Christian” country?

Why is there no objective morality given atheism/secularism?

Levi Ackerman :
This argument sort visualizes a world where ideology and its practices are distinct entities, which is not the case, as practices are largely shaped by ideology despite also being influenced by other factors. So it’s a still burden to address why Islamic countries out of all countries are tilted mostly towards oppressing women politically.

Completely agree. They need to remain their critics bc it’s not about Islam it’s about their personal interactions based on the way SOME ppl express it and not Islam itself.

I’ve noticed critique of communism, socialism and religion (specifically Islam) is purely based on western depiction of those concepts, and not the actual ideologies themselves

The framework itself is flawed, u can’t deny that. U can’t wrap it around with elegant words. U can’t fill in the gaps with new updates. The religion supports violence against apostates, it implies prepubescent marridge, it allows intrafamilial marriage, it allows violence against women (strike=strike, strike≠distancing urself), scientific innacuracies (which can be supported only through mental gymnastics), not well presered as they say (Saana Manuscript, although I’m studying this topic more rn). Let’s not ignore the fact that it claims to have scientific miracles but when u dig into them u understand that there’s nothing new he introduced, everything was already known. But we don’t wanna see reality as it is, we wanna hide behind the theoretical aspect, I guess.

Some people do this but you have to acknowledge that it is dangerous to critique islam. People are scared to be literally killed and the death threats you get by criticizing islam. People will use violence to defend Islam.

Youre right, Id encourage ex Muslims to argue that rulings can be unsafe, thus causing emotional and physical harm (burqa- lack of vitamins from sunlight, spacially unaware etc—can also be applied to child marriage, 🍇 of s slaves etc) as it is more of an objective standpoint to argue under.

Umm new example… saying we should only critique scripture, and not how religion is practiced, is like saying democracy should only be judged by its “founding ideals”, not by how it actually functions in countries like India. However, we all know that HOW systems work in REAL life matters. Religion isn’t just a text. It’s lived, interpreted, and enforced by people. Believe it or not, critiquing those social and political realities is essential to understanding its true impact. And in fact, relevant. Perhaps the girl you stitched didn’t know how to articulate it well. But your claim, though sounding “fancier” is as well flawed and “intellectually not stimulating” for use of better words.
