Well what if the baltics werent in nato? Just letting small poor and weak countries get devoured by putin and let over 4 million innocent people die? The baltics have only 120k combat ready men and russia has up to 3,6 million even if estonias kd was historically 1 to 8 still the baltics cant handle russia without nato.

Ukraine was denied Nato membership 2009 declared themselves Neutral 2010 Russia invaded 2014. Nato is a defence organisation. Ten former USSR states joined Nato.

NATO doesnt expand towards Russia. Countries joined NATO because of the fear of a Russia annexation. They seek protection. If you know what happened after WW2, you'd understand why. Ukraine is going through that procees right now. So that narrative is a joke.
