cats are also so easily trained by distraction, people just lack the patience to work with their cats. if you’re declawing your cat because he’s tearing up your furniture, it’s probably because he doesn’t have a good enough scratching post.

I wish it was illegal here!!! my cat is front and back declawed (he’s a rescue, he came like that) and my bfs parents declawed both their cats, one recently. it breaks my heart

Ima say this, if you can’t handle what your pet may do to your belonging, or its just being an animal DONT BUY/ADOPT THEM!! So many people get upset at cats clawing up furniture but that’s what they do to mark, and dual down their nails..

we adopted a declawed cat from a shelter and I felt so bad to him. granted his front paws were the only ones declawed but those are the only ones that'd actually save him had he needed them. fortunately he lived a full 20 years even with the issues. whoever had him before us, I don't like them

i work at a cat shelter. in the past people have adopted kittens, gotten them declawed, and then returned them because after the declaw surgery they became aggressive and stopped using a litter box. now we talk to people and find out if they're planning on declawing. if we believe that they're going to declaw a cat and can't be talked out of it, they won't be allowed to adopt. it's animal abuse

when adopting my kitten there was a girl who had her paper who was talking about de clawing her... I snatched that paper so fast and took that cat home. guess what! my cat doesn't scratch or claw and let's me clip her nails just fine and is the sweetest

declawing a cat because theyre destructive is like cutting the hands off of a child. majority of people who declaw cats, have or had kids at some point. and kids are super destructive. why let one baby break stuff and not the other?
