@abc7chicago: A “rapidly intensifying” Hurricane Erick neared landfall in Mexico on Wednesday, June 18, possibly bringing damaging winds and life-threatening flash flooding, weather officials warned. Erick was carrying maximum sustained winds of “about 85 mph” as of Wednesday morning, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said. Satellite imagery shows a visible eye on the hurricane, which was forecast to make landfall in southern Mexico on Thursday.
