I don’t even know what it was until yesterday. Never heard of it. My day was a normal day yesterday everybody was at work. I don’t know what these people are talking about another made up holiday for federal workers. That’s all it is.

So letting others dictate an important holiday for us? When did we need permission to ever celebrate us?

I hate that rude people ruin things for others. Juneteenth is such an important part of not just American History.

so im other words these corporations are worried about the president using the government to go after their businesses. since we all know he will not follow the constitution. now Que his base to praise and defend everything he does

I'm confused what does pulling back on dei have to do with it?? was it government funded or just forced support from businesses with dei mandates

This holiday is for black people. Where are the black businesses, why do you want sponsors from white companies? Where are the community donations? Where are the volunteers to organize, get donations, find entertainment, etc? Why do you immediately blame a government rule that stopped a racist & failing initiative like DEI? If it was profitable, companies would be fighting to keep those policies. But it wasn't.

Plano is primarily white and Hispanic town. Its black community came from Chicago about 15 years ago. The sponsors backed out because of blk fatigue

because we have President Trump you have to celebrate bigger. you have to celebrate louder. you have to celebrate the best. Juneteenth needs to be the greatest American holiday. it needs to be so much bigger than his birthday

Last year, I read that many people were complaining that big box stores were profiting off the holiday by selling merchandise. Perhaps that is the pull back.

Texas pioneered this holiday. 5 years ago none of you non Texans ever heard of it. I was making posters in the 70s in elementary school and watching Juneteenth programs in the cafeteria put on by the choir.

Was it just propped up by DEI? I think black people need to have holidays. The date celebrates a really important event, but “Juneteenth” has that same corporate feel as “Pride” does.

My husband’s company is in a “transitional period” where they offer their employees their choice of the Friday or Monday after the holiday as their paid holiday, but say their customers have not yet become accustomed to the mid-week holiday so they need to maintain some staffing. I think in 5 years it will be a normal holiday, it will just take time to get there.
