Ok I agree with you but you have all the wrong reasons. In Ironman 1 while Tony is escaping the cave he gets told don’t waste your life and Tony takes it as I’m going to make up for all the things I’ve done and it ties into his mcu character because Ironman 2 and 3 are him confronting his demons so when Tony gets told about the kid who inadvertently died because of him and the avengers actions he believes it whole heartedly and thinks that if there is someone who tells me I’m doing wrong I need to make up for it. Meanwhile once taking the serum Steve gets told to follow his heart making him believe that if your not agreeing with me then you are wrong and ultimately in avengers 1 he sees that instead of letting them save as many people as they can he sees that shield wanted to nuke New York making him start to believe less in the government and when they paint the socovia accords to be basically using them as weapons he doesn’t want to be the weapon that would’ve replaced that nuke and instead wants to fight for his independence because he doesn’t want to only go when he’s told when there are people he could save
