I actually had a trial lesson back in 2007 and a whole interview process!!!! I was 8 but I had my coach for 10 years!

At my rink I didn’t really get to choose I was assigned a coach but luckily I love her so it worked out

As a coach, when asked for availability, I first ask them, "what are your goals?" then if I feel I can actually help them, the next thing I say is, "let's do a couple of assessment lessons to see if I'm a good guide for your journey, and if not, I'll happily recommend another coach more suited to what you need."

I feel like we’re stuck with my daughters coach I’m too afraid to say “this isn’t working for her” he’s a very nice guy but he’s not really part of the rink and doesn’t follow the program so he’s not helping her reach her goals

I kind of did this I went from being in a group lesson with my coach to her offering private lessons it was a bad decision because I had many classes I dreaded going to as her coaching seems kind of rushed and just not fit for me
