@vanillavb: Heeelp?? Does anyone know who should I call or where can I take this baby bat to be taken care of? Peterborough area 🦇 I’ve put him in a box with a towel and made small holes for air #batrescue #babybat
People really are not scared enough of rabies and it shows.

It’s actually illegal to touch bats (even if injured etc) in the UK (unsure where you are location wise) definitely contact the local vets or wildlife rescue near you. I found one a few years ago & was informed about it being illegal which I didn’t realise before this!

I rescued one few years ago during covid and during winter. I kept it in a small fish tank with a bat box inside it. I fed it meal worms, wax worms and crickets. I had it from oct to March and It didn't hibernate because it was indoors and was kept warm. It fattened up over winter and I took it to where I found it in march (when they come out hibernation) and I nailed the bat box up on a wall of a near by building (with owners permission) next to where it was found and as far as I'm aware it stayed there and other bats also now live in the bat box.

People have never seen someone pass from rabies and it shows. When I was in college we had to watch a video showcasing rabies infection in humans and now I make correct choices around wildlife.

Fun fact rabies is rare in bats I believe it's only 1% so don't let people scare you about it ...

First, I love and respect animals and try to care for them if I can. But, (sorry to those offended in the comments) bats ARE one of the most common carriers of rabies, even babies. If that guy even nipped you, you'd have to have it put down at the Department of Health so that it could be tested. If positive, you'd need treatment immediately, no waiting. If you waited and rabies symptoms started to show, there is no cure and it's virtually 100% fatal, and painfully so.

Rabies isn’t in the UK and hasn’t been since the early 1900s - people need to stop scaremongering! Thank you for helping x

The scratches are so small you don’t know they gave your rabies until it is too late.
