for those who don't know. He was undercover, she discovered he was a soldier so, protocol dictated she needed to die in order to keep operation meteor a secret. throughout the series his relationship to Relena is constantly tested as her death may bring peace, and he often just struggled with the notion of killing "innocents". It's entirely possible he felt this was the best way to keep her away from him when he told her he wouldkill her. He's a child soldier who knows nothing but war. Ironically, he took the name of an assassinated pacifist. For Heero, there is only ever the mission. It's heavily implied he is a super soldier who should be dead himself. His relentless obsession with completing the mission is the reason he is 1 of 5 Gundam pilots. Despite his record, he never does kill Relena, but kills pretty much everyone around her. And they do get married in Frozen Teardrop.

I love the uncensored version of Gundam Wing, but one thing I will always prefer in the version that aired on TV is when he says, ‘I’ll destroy you,’ instead of this, and it goes way harder.
