I'm begging people to look up the word "vivify" and it's pronunciation. It's "vih-vuh-phy". There's no hanging "e" to alter the vowel sound of the "i". Adding the prefix "re" doesn't change the root word from vivify to some bastardized version of "revive". The shared Latin root between revivify and revive doesn't mean the pronunciations are the same. I guess in the end it doesn't really matter, but hearing "revive-ify' is like having sneak attack crit and do 4d8x2 damage to my ear drums.

awesome but if the bad guy can kill them that easily why would he revive them other than your narrative little haha twist. so he revives them and leaves them they immediately go back to the adventurer's Guild quest Giver whatever throw their deposit back and say oh no you'll have to hire someone else and they move on.

My party used revivify when the rogue killed a goblin we were interrogating by accident. So my cleric brought him back, and then the rogue was like, "He's got five more spell slots. Shall we keep going?" That goblin spilled everything it ever knew 😂

There is a actual lore reason for why they don't need to be willing to be brought back with revivify. The "soul" has not yet crossed to another plane within the first minute. so the be willing part of other spells is basically a consent Form to transport them across planesl

i was thinking more like, a torture tool. if someone dies during interrogation, you bring them right back and continue. or the villain could keep reviving their henchmen so the adventurers have harder time getting to the villain.
