I don’t think so. I was taught at a Christian college that the context was that tattoos of the time were taken by “servants” as a sign of servitude (AKA people could take a tattoo of a family’s name to promise their life to serving that specific household in exchange for better treatment), so you were commanded not to serve anyone over your god. Idk how accurate that is, but it’s one line of thought that we were taught as a possibility.

no, there's nothing in the Bible about it.

Not a doctrine issue so doesn’t really matter one way or the other

I Don’t think Christians should get tattoos because our body is our temple. But if ppl already have tattoos it’s another thing .

I would say to pray about it. I would anything super graphic or vulgar in general probably isn’t appropriate but also if you have them then you have them that won’t take your salvation away.

*Coming from a Christian with tattoos* Your body is a temple, so consider it vandalism. Also, tattoos originated with spiritual significance, not from our God. I got tattoos before knowing this, the Blood of Jesus washed me clean. If I were to get more tattoos, he’d still wash me clean, but this would be taking advantage when I know right from wrong. God does not hate you if you have tattoos, He loves you so much because you are His.🩷

what does a Christian need a tattoo for? how does it etify God? can any verse be interpreted to say its a sin? often we ask the wrong questions. as a Christian no you should not go out and get a tattoo. however, people have lives before becoming saved and having a tattoo does not keep you from salvation. its worth noting that irregardless of what modern scholars claim ancient text really meant, you can always look to the orthodox Jewish interpretation on what the old testament says. having a tattoo can keep you from being burried in jewish cemeteries. my point is historically the view on tattoos in the judeo Christian culture was taboo.

1. the word tattoo didn't exist at the time, the bible was written. the word in hebrew was cut/ mark.
2. it was in reference to people in that time. Doing so for pagan, practices and witchcraft
3. the bible doesn't tell us not to get tattoos. ( but most people get it for a (me) reason) you like it, its pretty, it reminds you of something, a memorial... (Colossians 3:23-24 says whatever you do, do it for the Lord) i would say, if you get one, are you willing to be responsible for it. I have 18. ( i got them all before I was saved)
4. the bible tells us to be a reflection of Christ and how we behave in our actions so that when people meet us, they will see a flash of who Jesus as a person. ( also that our body is the temple for the holy spirit) (John 4:27 but people already have a predisposition for judging people on their exterior and not their interior) ( so now that human nature causes people to superficially, judge before judging the interior)
5. i don't think anyone is going to go to hell for getting a tattoo. ( but I think if people want alot of "me" things) that could be a heart issue indicator. ( of poor money spending, maybe focusing on one's self more than other things)

That Bible is clear on Christian to set themselves apart from the world so I would say it doesn’t make God happy to try to look like or to participate in worldly look I would avoid it because it’s dangerous ground
