if i see anything being marketed to me utilizing AI, I'll just automatically assume that company was too cheap to hire actual testers, artists, actors, etc. therefore the product isnt worth my money.

Please keep in mind that there is a difference between generative AI and other AI. When video editing softwares talk about AI, it's pretty much never generative. I've seen it used a lot in removing backgrounds, where AI recognises what the background is by itself without having to go through every frame manually. This kind of AI has existed for years. My father's editing software back in 2006 could do it. It's just a lot better now. A lot of tech companies who use AI as a selling point are using the same, harmless AI computers have been using for decades. It just sounds good and AI is a huge hype at the moment. Video games use AI as well, because without it, the characters wouldn't work. That being said, generative AI is harmful and should be avoided at all cost. But you also need to learn the difference between harmful AI and good AI.

I'm an elderly caretaker and I've seen so many ppl get scammed by buying something from ai ads and receiving garbage (if they get anything at all) and it makes me so unconsolably upset bc it's not something I can interfere with I just have to watch it happen over and over :(

One of the worst parts is that AI is so pervasive that you have to deal with AI customer service agents either by phone/chat/text. You have to speak to it to get to a real agent. Don't even get me started on the fact that (-AI) NO LONGER WORKS AGAINST AI G00GLE SEARCHES

I finally managed to educate my parents on how to properly use ai, they are business owners and used to use gen ai a lot (which as their daughter who works and studies in creative fields always rubbed me the wrong way) now they figured out that gen ai is bad and they use ai to automate task in the office

MIT is doing a study on the effects of AI usage on the brain. And unsurprisingly it seems to be deskilling and desensitising people to the point where they’re slowly becoming incapable of thinking properly. And oh boy is it obvious when you talk to heavy AI users.

Ever since i got a new phone i keep getting notifs to use googles ai, and if i linger on the power button for too long instead of shutting it off it brings up the ai. I literally cannot find where to change the setting to disable it it drives me insane
