Nah cuddle and love your baby. Father of 3 here. Just let em cry out sometimes when it comes to sleep time. Can’t always cuddle em sadly to ensure they grow some independence so you ensure to find “me time” but only during sleep and only for a period of time.

Self soothing is just emotional and physical (from crying) exhaustion. They’re not self soothing, they’re shutting down from the trauma of not being tended to when they are completely helpless.

Many, if not most adults sleep next to another human. Yet when babies want to be near the person they love the most, some people call it “manipulation”. I will NEVER understand this.

I taught my son to soothe himself while he was a baby. and IT WAS A GIANT MISTAKE! Please young moms don't listen to anyone, babies need you, they have only one way to communicate with you is to cry.

Babies physically dont have a soothing mechanism. They only stop crying because they learn to “adapt” but they only learn this because they know no one is coming to help. It is not self soothing

I never believed in that old parenting style of letting them cry it out or that they would get spoiled if you held them. I was a really young mom and even I knew that what my babies needed

Babies don’t self soothe. I took several child development courses and have a masters in social work and a license. They are unable to self soothe and it’s really neglect to leave them when upset. It can cause them to have several mental health disorders later in life as well. Babies don’t cry without a reason.

I have read once that self soothe might brings a mental illness i forgot its name. It came to adopted babies when no one fill their needs in orphanage😿💔when ignoring their cries so the hold their feelings inside and think no body will care

Actually, letting them cry for a little bit, JUST A LITTLE bit, is good for their lungs. It makes them stronger and helps them grow to be strong. Crying is not bad for babies.
