"Daryl should let go of Glenn" Carl's death was an accident something that happened as the result of the world they lived in, Glenn was brutally murdered and the man that did it was still alive. Daryl didn't mean "let him go" as telling Rick to stop grieving but to stop chasing the idea of the world that Carl deserved because it wasn't fair for all Negan's victims... unpopular opinion but I feel like Daryl didn’t mean it in a hurtful way or in a way saying to just forget about Carl but he meant it more in way of telling Rick he’s gotta grieve and accept that times moving on

“Aww this is so cu-“ she exclaimed right before she was cut off by a strange pain. She looked down in confusion and worry to see the sharp end of a knife piercing through the middle of her stomach, covered in a mysterious red liquid. Her eyes widened in shock as she let out a quiet gasp. She knew it was blood, but the amount of confusion mixed with suffering, made it hard to understand. She gasped in surprise. “W-what?…” she mumbled. Then, it twisted. She felt a rush of agony go through her. “Ahh!” She screamed. She began to feel lightheaded as the pain increased. Just then, the knife was removed. The pain was worse than anything she had ever experienced. She inhaled, making it hurt even worse. She sat her hand on her stomach and felt the sensation of irritation. She lifted her hand to her face. On the surface of her palm was a red liquid. “blood?…” she said, her stomach throbbing with discomfort with every breath. Her head started to pound even worse. She couldn’t understand what had just happened. It was too much to comprehend for her weak self. She turned her head, then her body, she caught a glance of you. Next thing she knew she couldn’t stand. She stumbled over, falling to the ground. She hit the ground hard, sending a shockwave of pain throughout her body. Then, she layed there. Knowing that the one that had stabbed her was someone she knew as one of her kind. As she layed there, bleeding out, she took time to acknowledge that the person that stabbed her was another human, just as she was, and yet she knew what had happened, she simply couldn’t understand why. Why someone would do this to her, to anyone as a matter of fact. All she knew was that she was going to die alone, on the floor with no one there. Nobody to hold her hand, and nobody to care for her. She had a very unpleasant expression on her face, a mix of confusion, sadness, and fear, yet she was not angry, nor happy. Just pure despair and uncertainty. Not knowing what to think of you now. Except…she 𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙬 that she was going to die. She knew that there was no saving her and that it was over. And finally…she looked at you, and with her last breath. She said “ho did you just twist the kn

Rick may not have died physically, but the moment he heard Carl shoot himself. Even if he loved Judith, and even Michonne, Carl was his reason to live. His future. His hope. When Carl died, Rick's entire purpose was shattered. After that, everything Rick did felt like he was just living for the sake of not really living, just going through the motions because other people needed him to. Carl wasn't supposed to die. He was supposed to be the one who made it. The one who survived it all. The one who would build the new world. Rick should have died for Carl, not the other way around. And I do love Rick, but I know Carl was something more to him. There comes a point where even the people you still only love...can't fill the hole left by the person who meant everything. That's what Carl was to Rick. Not just a son. He was the future Rick fought for. When he lost Carl, Rick lost himself.

I think when Daryl said “let him go” he was referring to Negan. As Carl just wanted peace before he died while Rick wanted nothing more than revenge. And he thinks for Carl, Rick needs to let that go.
