It’s a great debate. I just feel a lot safer with our tough laws on guns. I’m my opinion Lives are just worth more than our possessions. Sure I’m going to fight for my life when it’s on the line but guns are for hunting.

The police need to stop laying charges for self defence. They can, but they don't. They take the attitude that it's somebody else's job to sort out that part, and it doesn't matter if they bankrupt the person that never should have had to deal with the issue in the first place. That's a "cop out" and it's abusive.

Some police are flat out ignorantly wrong; they believe once you have cleaned your guns, it must go in the safe. Wrong. I can strap a gun on my hip all day long on my property. I don’t have to ask anybody, since it’s not a police state, but police made it a de facto police state.

Canadians we need tougher judges or justice of the peace. This "hug a thug" mentality is not working! Police lay the charge, then gets thrown out!

If someone breaks into my house and I feel that my family's life is at risk, I don't care what our laws say, I will choose my family every time, even if it means jail time. I'll sleep well in jail knowing I did the right thing.

No debate here. If someone breaks into you home in middle of the night armed with hammers bats guns etc they aren’t there to have a coffee. They are there to do you harm. So break in at your own risk and allow licences gun owners to protect themselves and their families.

100% change, criminals have too much safety nets for no reason… just let us feel safe in our own homes.. privacy is huge.. at least in bc so why can’t we protect our own homes at the same strictness we protect privacy laws?

Had a guy break into a neighbours house not to long ago. Attempted SA. They couldn’t defend themselves for fear of being charged and yet the perp got “caught and released pending”.. That’s not ok. Our laws need to change, we need our own version of Castle Doctrine or something similar. My home was almost broken into not to long ago. Local PD did absolutely nothing. Just asked if I had video proof. If I or my husband had tried to defend ourselves, we would’ve been up the creek without a paddle.How is this right?! Things need to change!

The laws need to change and the police need to be backed up.I believe the biggest problem is the public has no respect for the police and the government doesn't back them up so just like teachers they are forced to trow their arms up and just put in their time 🥺
