Best example is racism imo. It's so ingrained in our society that even if you're aware it's wrong, you can still be subconsciously racist due to it being so ingrained in us during our youth. Hence the terms hard R racism (obvious racism) and soft r racism (not so obvious- ex: thinking every black person must be poor).

One of the scariest things I’ve learned recently is that even if you can rationalize something, that doesn’t make you immune to it. I have crippling stage fright. I’ve been working at getting rid of it and no matter how many good performances I have or how much I understand it’s not life or death, my body still reacts like it is. Being aware of that disconnect is eye opening

*whisper* children who grew up on military bases were brainwashed as well in more subtle ways. On the base theater before they played the movie they would play the national anthem and I was stunned the first time I saw a movie at a civilian theater and It took me years not to feel the urge to stand up for the national anthem at a movie theater.

So I took an advertising psych class in college and one of the things we covered was how the brain takes information in Commercials on TV were designed to be ignored. They wanted you to get up, go get a snack, use the bathroom, leave the room, etc. It turned rhe Commercial into background noise, noise you knew meant something but couldn't hear, until the volume spiked and yelled their slogan so it was all you took in. Burying their slogan in your subconcious until you needed that kind of service Like man I need new car insurance, then the jingle plays in your head, and you're not sure why. But their sales spiked after they implemented that method
