I feel like that about black water rising by Sean Watkin. It’s become my favourite listen this year, so much I bought the book to re-read at some point. It follows Ds Winifred da silva who comes in on a case as an advisor following the unaliving of girls, she’s got her own personal problems as well as her former partner DS Barclay who thinks he’s the token hire, married to a man with a little girl. It’s dark and gritty, that there was some chapters from the unaliver pov. Set in Liverpool. He’s got me into crime novels that I can’t wait for his next book after the fallout of what happened at the end of the book.
