God of paradox and all that. Emperors prayed to him during their conquest, and slaves prayed to him during their revolts. In one tradition he even ascends to Olympus by conquering India, so it his warlike nature that results in him becoming an Olympian

Dionysius ended as the party god who turned up late but he started as a Mycenaean god (possibly of madness) and his worship was banned for hundreds of years before being brought back in because underground hipster parties are the best.

As the planner of parties and group trips, I can absolutely see this for Dionysus. I love this. The debacherous drunkard is also the group Mom, feeding everyone and putting blankets on those passed out.

I love this. Like Dionysius being the most hyper intelligent god but is perpetually drunk in order to cope with his TOXIC family. Just wants to bring SOME joy to the people. And if he ever got fully fed up, he could topple Olympus in a weekend 😂

idea, the entire wine'em and dine'em started thanks to Dionysus, he gets to know people by simply partying with them, and unlike most Olympians, Dionysus is the least likely to do anything bad to you because he is the god of everything chill, people are loyal to Dionysus because they don't have to fear him. Dionysus is the one guy in the group who will make sure you have as much fun as possible, you and everyone else in the region. that's why he is good at organising stuff, simply, no one turns down the guy who makes sure everyone gets to have fun.

Absolutely a master of logistics, you cannot provide for a multi-day bacchanal without everything being arranged and sourced meticulously in advance. But, as you kind of touch on, he and his make the ultimate bartender-chaplain, the perfect emotional supports, confessors, therapists, genuinely invested in understanding you and helping you to overcome the things holding you back and get through the bad trip you're on.

For the last 'knowing people' part, in vino veritas: in wine there is truth. People tend to say more truth than they would (or should) when drunk. It stands to reason that in the presence of the wine god a spy would have a pretty hard time keeping their cover together. It tracks that he'd Know the truth that is intrinsic to the people around him, or to the people who partecipate in his revelry, who become part of his domain, if only for a while.
