One of my classmates a year younger than me died at 19 from TSS. She was a friend of a friend, & apparently forgot abt the tampon & 2-3 wks later got very sick, went to the hospital, went septic & passed away.😢

we had three girls in our school get TSS in 2001 and I believe the school actually got in trouble because it was found the teachers weren’t letting the girls leave class to change things

I accidentally left one in before and found it like 2 days later bc things just felt offffff lmao……it wasn’t pretty but I was fine 😂

TSS is very real. Its caused from certain Staph bacterias that release toxins into the bloodstream. The instructions on the box are important: not just changing a tampon timely, but dont touch the clean tampon or contaminate any part of the applicator with your hands bc Staph lives on our skin

I have! I went to a funeral for my ex husbands GPA in Ohio when I was like 23 or 24 and his cousin on his dad's side was 13 and literally just got out of the hospital after being there for 2 weeks with toxic shock syndrome.

I got it as a junior in high school. Treatment was daily antibiotic injections along with other meds to avoid hospital stay. Absolutely terrified to use tampons ever since. I was on depo for 12+ years to not have a cycle.

I once blacked out and college and lost one in me for a few days and i honestly don’t know how i didn’t get it .. i won’t share the tmi parts of the story but i was grateful. Stopped using tampons after lol
