it's a good thing. non stop commercialism undermines quality of life.

OG followers will know this one, a bit of a remake remix since people keep asking me about it even though I've made a video about it before.

Limit is 100 square meter. Refrigerator rooms are not counted in, so these stores have quite large walk in refrigerator rooms.

it's such a bizarre concept, I went to Rema, was closed, then 1 meter away there is a Rema shed with like a couple items, tiny aisles, and 100 people 😭 so weird

And with exeption for full size stores in tourist towns and garden centers in general. And some immigrant owned stores ignore the rule, as well as small clothing butiques in hip areas

This used to be the case in Finland, thankfully they loosened the law so any store can set their own open hours. Most still follow 8-21, but even some big stores sometimes are open to like 23 or rarely 24, and some small stores open at like 6, rarely earlier.

Everything is allowed to be open here on Sundays, I think, but we do have some sort of rules in Denmark that only stores with a revenue below a certain amount are allowed to be open on bank holidays, to encourage traffic to them. Which is especially nice for the small businesses!

Like the good old days in Australia when shops all closed at lunchtime on Sat and stayed closed on Sunday. Anyone that worked Sat arvo or Sunday were paid double time. Now people have to work all the time. Then shops started opening late on Thursday nights and now grocery stores stay open late every night.
