If it it Wednesday and we set plans- this weekend… if we are skipping the weekend and moving on to almost two weeks later- next weekend.

Next implies after the current one. So I say “this” for whichever day is between today and the next six days. After that it’s next. Yesterday was Saturday, 6/28 is this Saturday, and 7/5 is next Saturday ☺️

I think of Sat and Sun as “the weekend” so on Sunday… and I’m referring to Sat the end of that week, I say next weekend, because I’m still on the current weekend!

I battle with myself on this one because even though it’s Sunday, the first day of the week, it still feels like the weekend. I either say “this coming weekend” or “this coming Saturday”
