And you wonder why Iran wants a nuclear weapon? Just look at the precedent: nations without nukes get invaded or bombed, while those with them—like North Korea—are untouchable, despite starving their own people and openly threatening the West. Power, not morality, dictates international relations. The actions of Israel and the U.S., and the shameful complicity of countries like Australia—my own—are the clearest possible advertisement for nuclear deterrence. We lecture others about peace while rewarding brute force with respect. There’s no such thing as justice in geopolitics—only leverage. In a world where the West only listens to those holding the bigger stick, why wouldn’t Iran want one?

Come adventure with us on the boat. The teens were still sleeping when we left, so just an us kinda day. We explored some of the Potomac river & then anchored out and floated around. One thing we will miss if we move to Florida will be floating around because there is NO WAY I’ll do it in Florida waters 🤣🐊 🌊 Fun Facts About the Potomac River (Maryland Side): 1. It’s George Washington’s hometown river. He was born in Westmoreland County, VA, and Mount Vernon sits right on the Potomac. So technically… this river raised America’s first president. 2. It’s the wild child of the Chesapeake Bay. The Potomac is one of the largest rivers flowing into the Chesapeake Bay—and it does so with attitude (just ask the boaters who’ve fought the current at Great Falls). 3. Borderline drama. The Potomac literally divides Maryland and Virginia. The two states have even argued in court over who owns what parts. Spoiler alert: Maryland got most of the riverbed. 4. It has some serious mood swings. Calm and scenic in Southern Maryland… raging waterfalls and rapids up near Great Falls. She’s got range. 5. It’s full of ghost stories and Civil War secrets. From haunted ferry crossings to sunken Civil War boats, the Potomac has seen some things. And probably heard some ghost gossip too. 6. You can kayak, fish, and find bald eagles—sometimes all at once. The river is a hotspot for wildlife (including bald eagles 🦅 and ospreys), so bring your camera and your patience. 7. It’s surprisingly salty… The southern part near Point Lookout can get brackish (a mix of saltwater and freshwater), so the fish menu changes depending on where you drop your line. 8. A real MVP for drinking water. The Potomac provides water for millions of people in the D.C./Maryland/Virginia area. So yeah, it’s kind of a big deal.
