Faith relies on mystery, if there is no mystery or room for doubt and we could say for certain there is a God or there isn’t one then then either 1. We never develop a personal relationship with God through trials and suffering and lose free will, or 2. Sin isn’t a thing and people will take advantage of this life to fulfill their desires at the expense of others, with no repercussions on their souls, that suffering is meaningless and absurd, that you require courage not to take your own soul just to live. I feel like a majority of people are agnostic or spiritual, a world where that is no longer possible is a cursed one. The human condition requires some baseline level of belief. For a believer no proof is necessary for a non-believer proof is never enough.
