I love Ashitaka so much, he isn’t just being “manly”, he’s being an actively compassionate and caring human being, despite having to deal with his arm being cursed. One of my favorite scenes in the movie is when lady Eboshi is showing him her secret weapon; while his arm lashes out, wanting to kill, he actively tried to stop it, even telling her that if it would cure him, he would willing let his arm tear her apart. But he doesn’t do so. He stops himself, and refuses to kill. Because he know that in a world of hate, killing would do nothing but make more harm. GOD I freaking love Miyazakis work

And that was enough. he didn't try to make he change he loved San the way she is and he walk away letting her alone but still herself. I like to think he come see her sometime. Lo adoro, de todos los personajes de ghibli Ashitaka tiene mi corazón, lo centrado, gentil que es, su seriedad, amabilidad, como intenta mediar entre el bosque y las personas porque entiende ambos lados. как же круто подобраны кадры к строками "be a man"! сразу видно, что мужчина - это не только про силу и отвагу (которые также показаны в эдите в других кадрах, что очень здорово), но и в банальной заботе, человечности, понимании. как Аситака помогает женщинам в плавильне, как он заботливо накрывает спящую Сан, как утешает плачущего мужчину. в работах Хаяо Миядзаки действительно показаны Мужчины с большой буквы! автор, очень крутой эдит, даже если с кадрами просто получилось совпадение! :)
