So when my son recently (very briefly) reached out to me when him & his wife were in a huge fight he told me that she watches me & my daughter on social media. He also told me that her exact words about him contacting me were “this is the biggest betrayal of our relationship”. And that’s when I realized this estrangement was her doing

Maybe madelyn is trying to assess the additional and ongoing damage that is being done to other family relationships. Also, hypervigilance is a common symptom people in people who have experienced trauma.

Sounds like our son’s wife. I’m sure I’m not the only one who can say that. Our DIL was, still is, obsessed with trying to get anyone who would listen to believe her lies & hurl hate my way. These types of DIL’s play a big part in estrangement.

Perfect example. I could care less what my daughter posts. It just isnt my problem anymore. Will always love her and I miss my grandsons that I had 4 days a week and I was the best mom and GeeMaw, but I am guarding my peace like Fort Knox.

This is why I do not go looking. My oldest said he would reach out to me when he is ready. I respected that he was on a personal journey and gave him space. Then it became a couple of months and crickets. I was so broken by it. Then I prayed and I kept praying. It dawned on me I was worshipping an idol and that idol was my children. I was then able to heal. I still grieve but I grieve in a healthy way. I also LIVE and do the work God sent me here to do. I have full faith God will reach my children even this one.
