@londonmetuni: Who remembers Keisha Da Sket and was it the first book you *actually* read? Be honest...👀 We sat down (again!) with @JadeLB, the once anonymous author behind viral classic Keisha Da Sket to explore why books like hers belong on the curriculum and how literature like this can be a powerful tool for continued learning, healing and growth. Now leading Learning Development in the School of Social Sciences and Professions at London Met, Jade held space for a conversation with Woman and Child Abuse MA graduate, Jahnine Davis. The conversation explored Jade's motivation behind writing the book in her teen years, the importance of safe spaces for young Black girls and how literature reflects and re-shapes real life experiences. This conversation was hosted by London Metropolitan University's Child and Woman Abuse Unit and organised by Sukhwant Dhaliwal – Senior Lecturer for the Woman and Child Abuse MA course. #MerkyBooks #KeishaDaSket #JadeLB #Stormzy #BookTok #LearnOnTikTok #London #Throwback #Literature #Academics #Lecture #Education

Keisha the Sket really influenced my A-level Literature work, we had to rewrite a chapter of Pride and Prejudice in our own style - I wrote a modern version in the style of Keisha the Sket, my teaching thought it was hilarious/brilliant she read it to the class

Generations after us will never experience the niche, social, and riveting dynamic of having to both HUNT FOR and SEND the different parts of the story to each other via text. Yes the story is amazing, but a staple part of the experience was the medium through which it was produced and shared. ♥️
