I listened to my neighbor talk about his trauma stories from the war. He had no one else to talk to and I was curious. I babysat his kids. He came home and shot himself infront of me and everyone in the house. I was 13.

Right. The military wrecked my dad even worse than he already was. Everytime someone tells me they want to join the military to go fight people it kills me.

I served and told my son its not for everyone including me. My dad and both grandfathers served. No one talked about their time.

my dad is a veteran and he never asks for discounts like he’s ashamed & he doesn’t really talk about his time in & when someone asks him about it the usual theme is “they fuck you” :/
