People who call this a ‘blue state issue’ are being purposefully divisive while deflecting the much larger issue at hand. This red and blue bullshit doesn’t even make sense because the US as a collective relatively leans to the right. Homelessness is rising in every state. Addiction is rising in every state. The cost of living is rising in every state. Wealth disparity is rising in every state. Invasive, dystopian technology is rising in every state. Mental illness is rising in every state. The number of homes being built is not keeping up. Healthcare is not keeping up. The wages are not keeping up. Billionaires are not being held accountable. All this for profit. Capitalism has served its purpose and should now be dismantled. It really is that simple.

as much as we should of course have empathy and sympathy for the homeless population, because we are always at least a few paychecks away from being in their situation, we can't act like this is 100% safe and a situation most would feel comfortable being in. it's not a black and white thing 🤷♂️

as a Portlander, this is not normal. I’ve never had to take or see a single underpass in my 6 years of living here. You guys cherry pick the worst possible little squares and publish it and everyone thinks the whole city looks like this
