I have managed to stay independent for 3 years now and to be honest its not easy. I have had to say no to bigger labels,missing out on opportunities and chances at creating with other people. Then why do it? Because of song like Red Tree. Red Tree is a song I wrote staring at some trees from my balcony in Denver. The fall leaves made me ponder my existence and inspired me to write. This song is a reflection of my own search for meaning as I look at a red tree that has weathered fire and war, not just surviving but choosing when to let go. As it slowly sheds its leaves for winter and prepares to endure the cold once more, I find myself questioning whether there is any purpose behind it all. Is this just a series of random events or is there something greater at work? I wonder if the tree knows its leaves are dancing, if it feels anything at all, and if saying it does not would change anything. Through this tree, I am really asking about myself, about life, awareness, and whether there is a maker in all of this. Now, if I went to a label with this song, what were the chances of
