As of Tuesday, June 24, hostilities were high but the ceasefire had seemed to hold, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calling the campaign against Iran a “historic victory.” But, this episode in a long simmering conflict between the U.S., Israel and Iran raised fear this war could escalate in the longer term, draw in the U.S. more deeply, and even become a nuclear conflict.
