this is micro management!! this is just ‘leaders’ validating their role and making their schedule look like ‘work’

The Practical DM :
run this through a cost of meeting calculator where you take the salary of every person who's in attendance of this meeting, break it down into an hourly rate and that gives you a sense of how much that meeting is costing the company. are you getting the ROI you need from that meeting?

hi. in lean management a lot of meeting is a waste(muda), work with goals. short and middle and long term goals instead of tasks and micro management.

nope nope nope! if I saw a member of management on the daily, then I would absolutely know I was in a low-trust organization. Go meet with other managers daily!

I do 1 with myself, 2 weekly with direct reports, 3 as a monthly step back with each report, and then 4 with team leaders

Facts! Meetings should be for real connection not just to fill time... it's all about trust, right?

Daily Check In = Not daily, as needed. Weekly Tactical = Only during highly critical periods and never more than 30 minutes. Monthly Strategic = We 👏 don't 👏 schedule 👏 more 👏 than 👏 45 minutes 👏 EVER.

Unfortunately many “Leaders”, weapons these meetings… and upper management do not take action… morale declines…. Pressure increases… sales continue to turn downward…

If you have more than 1-2 under you then daily check ins are impossible.

With a 5-minute daily meeting, a weekly catch-up, and a monthly review, just curious—when do we actually get time to do the work we’re meeting about?

The framework does work when the leader focuses on the team and the work they do. Unfortunately you have some who turn it into a spotlight on them which just doesn’t work. Some might see it as micromanaging, then that’s where you open up the conversation to see how you can keep things moving, keep communication open and do what’s best for the team. Often I hear ‘my leader doesn’t care’ because they don’t do this. You can’t seem to win these days.

I highly disagree. My day is overrun by unnecessary meetings that do not provide value and only validate the need to a manager

This is from the book “Death by Meeting” written by Patrick Lencioni. An amazing writing style: from fable to application. 👌

cancel the quarterly off site. that's just a waste of money. weekly tactical should be an email. daily check in is micromanaging. monthly strategic seems about right
