I had to deal with renters (squatters since they’d stopped paying 9 months prior) when I purchased my home in November. They had already been evicted but refused to leave. We had to call the sheriff to get them out. Im so glad we refused to sign until they left and the locks were changed! Happy it worked out for you!!

I would speculate in a situation like that that is likely that someone involved in the transaction like the seller told the tenant that they would give them a lot of money, but they would have to be physically out of the house by a certain time. But if they refuse to leave, they would destroy their credit and tie them up in litigation for a long time.

I walked thru before closing. they had stuff in the garage, boxes everywhere, and the fridge..whi CH was disgusting. but I had to change that they owe me know days rent and to be out. I did not want to reschedule the closing.

Exact same thing happened to us. The lady didn’t even have another house. Had to kick them out because she had over a year to move and “find a house “

Eviction is tough on everyone. There are multiple ways to get them out. Some good, some not so good. We have used on multiple occasions “cash for keys.”.Cost less than a formal eviction and normally gets them to move pretty quickly.
