Sandra Says :
First of all, I’m happy that you seem to have had mostly positive experiences with the men you’ve encountered in your life. Truly. That should be the norm! However, that is not a lot of women’s experience. So, while I can see where you’re coming from, focusing on the generalization ignores the deeper issue. The phrase exists because the problem is widespread, persistent, and exhausting. And its sentiment is prevalent because, while not literally all men are bad, far too many are, often with serious, even fatal, consequences. And yet, as a society, we seem more concerned with sparing men’s feelings than protecting women’s safety, validating their experiences, or holding harmful behavior accountable.
