"i will be brave today so that you can be brave tomorrow and if you stand up i will stand up next to you and if enough of us stand up everyday it's not scary anymore" god that is amazing and i think i might paint that at some point

you dont even realize how much being out affects the people around you. i came out in middle school and i still receive messages like this from classmates to this day. im so glad that my bravery could make space for others to be brave too.

This girl that was homophobic to me in middle school (her parents were too) is now a lesbian and a therapist for LGBTQ+ youth and I know I’ll never get an apology, but it is kind of healing to see her journey. Her parents support her too

as a teacher i'm terrified to be out as trans. but this stuff makes me want to embody the bravery not for myself but for every kid. present or future

This. This is what pride is. And it is also all those other people who saw you and felt seen and never said anything but felt less afraid

my old roommate is incredibly extroverted, i love her dearly. when out in columbus a few months ago, she ran into one of the “popular” girls i went to hs with. they were chatting, and they talk about hs, my friend brings me up. my old classmate just went on about how much she admired how unapologetically myself i was in high school. i never even knew she knew my name, let alone knowing she advocated for our equivalent of gsa. that alone has made me feel 1000x better about my hs experience. knowing i could’ve helped any closeted friend.

as one of the only queer kids in my hs, i definitely have realized the kids that were the rudest then are now finding themselves once we all moved away. it definitely healed some of the hurt i felt then

incredibly moving story and message, remembering those who came out before us and inspired us and being loud to be that for the next person - what a beautiful tenet to hold central during pride
