He gives so much insight into the way his mind works when it comes to filmmaking, delving into the deeper aspects of himself that have clearly influenced every film he’s made. And talking about the books that became sources of emotional and psychological inspiration for Taxi Driver. It’s very telling. But what gives me motivation, more than anything, about this clip is that it’s a reminder for how important it is to use your own struggles as creative fuel. That’s where the vulnerability and authenticity comes from. Not being afraid to face the darker aspects of yourself in order to reconcile them and imbed them in your own work.
