Whenever I set my party at level one I love giving non combat encounters that are still in intitiative order, like the first big dungeon was an ancient abandoned dwarven city but as soon as they got in this magically corrupted drill started chasing them through the halls and they had to use the machinery in the city to dispatch it before it killed them

Level 1 is basically the tutorial, it's for people who have never played and need to learn basic action economy before they start getting complex features.

I love this because I had to severely tone down a deadly trap so that I didn't one shot a pc because he was trying to much and failed the one thing he was good at because of it

when I run games lvl 0 is a thing and everyone gets their con score plus a d6 for their starting hp, my world is kinda dangerous so the extra HP is needed

Sometimes dice jail can get a bit overcrowded when so many of them start acting up. 😭 Love sessions where somehow not a single nat 20 is rolled.
