please don't defend save a fox! she was an animal hoarder, not a rescue. she is on record BUYING animals from fur farms and misusing donation money. also there are some very compelling accusations of cruelty and neglect against her.

I have been involved in domestic animal rescue for several years. had to take a step back because of the things I've seen. its crazy because people will be sending you death threats online while you're euthanizing a horrific neglect case. ever seen a cat that was so dehydrated and emaciated that its eyes were sunken pits in its skull? it was supposedly feral and without any sedative couldn't do anything but breathe... slowly... and stare. thats just one of many, many things. people who aren't involved in rescue have no idea, although sometimes the worst offenders are the people who DO rescue and think theyre "godlier than thou"

i’ve seen people say she shouldn’t have been on social media if she couldn’t take the criticism, but that’s quite literally one of the best and only ways to properly fundraise nowadays. you guys need more support 💔

I don't understand why people are the way they are. At the height of my depression my church sent me info on how to put my dog down "because I was too depressed to take care of her". I was depressed because I was hurt working for the church. My family refused to let me sue. So I was paying huge medical bills by myself. I ghosted the church. My dog is still alive 9 years later. I was depressed but taking care of my beloved pet was my reason to live.

My local rescuer is struggling with overwork and expectations too. Glad I told her she had already done a lot. I’ll try to say it more eloquently next time I see her maybe but she basically FIXED the feral cat problem in her town and just keeps expanding to more towns. Plus she brought Bijou to me so she’s better than God

Hey if you ever need someone to talk/rant to feel free to reach out. Also if you ever get any snark pages lmk and I’ll keep records of everything they say and figure out who they are in case things escalate. It’s important to keep records of that stuff but I get that it would be taxing to have to see those kinds of things written about yourself.

Not an animal rescue, but I have chickens again, and i literally went back to therapy because of the horrific things I’ve had to deal with to keep them alive and to keep the ecosystem in my neighborhood sane. Can’t imagine what you go through.

There is a lot of pain and death in animal rescue, and it does take a toll on ones mental health. People critisizing and being generally horrible is just the icing on the cake. You give and give yet people still take.

I literally got sent d3ath threats this week. I’m not even physically working in the field rn because said person has harassed me into severe anxiety. 🥲 My petition for a restraining order hearing was denied within 4hrs of requesting a hearing.

Nobody talks about how hard it is on one’s mental health to work with animals and how clinics aren’t the best at taking care of their vets and techs mental health usually overworking them on top of all the regular stressors that come with the job. I imagine it’s even more stressful when you’re running an entire rescue and to put on top of all that cyber bullying it’s no wonder it would be too much. I’m so devastated at the loss I had been watching her YT for years I hardly looked at the comments I didn’t even know about the bullying. I wish I could go back in time and leave so many encouraging messages to her I can’t believe such a bright shining light is gone.
