Imagine the twist is they’re actually on a colony ship that forgot they were in outerspace. Or what space was. Like that one Startrek parody that’s popular on here.

this is me but I dont write anything down and remember everything in campaign *not irl* and accidentally get ahead of the DMs plans. my autism pattern recognition is no match for my allistic DMs. I appreciate the extra effort they put in to fool me now 😊

I explore this idea in my table! Its a floating island with a hyper dungeon underground. The hyper dungeon have bunker cities that uses magic to replicate the world above

My players are currently following one long road up thru caverns to the source of the water flooding. The first NPC they spoke to was Jonah. Theyre in the spine of a giant whale beast and the "sporadic" floods are the the tides.

Oh my god… that would be a PERFECT PLACE TO START A SPACEJAMMER CAMPAIGN!! Imagine, your players learn the truth around level 3ish and after months of getting stronger and looking for an escape (around level 5-7) they find an exit, not knowing what’s on the otherside, they step out and then BOOM astral sea.

i ran this as a campaign once. not exactly the same but a massive 18 floor dungeon crawl. inspired (aka stolen) from the series dungeon crawler Carl

better question is how and why are the party in the dungeon. how did they get there. why don't they remember entering the dungeon. were they always denizens of a dungeon. are they an encounter for a slew of other adventurers???

Can the opposite of this be that washing machines are water dungeons? This being why socks go missing. The socks are on a quest of their own
